When users registered on the site, they were asked to indicate their responsibilities and areas of interest. This enabled a wide range of power searches to be conducted across the entire user base.

Example searches included "all users with an interest in digital TV"; or "only people with the surname Smith, who work for BT, who are responsible for commercial issues"; or "only people whose name contains the word 'Bob' ".

As part of the self-administration process, users were able to modify their username and password, edit contact details, add a mugshot, and amend their responsibilities and areas of interest.
